"Rom. 12:10: In honour preferring one another.
Preferring-this word means "to lead before." To prefer another in honor is to lead another before oneself-to be glad that another can do what one cannot do oneself. It is a word that goes very deep. It cuts straight across the self, the flesh, the I (all three are one really). It asks for something which we cannot do of ourselves. It casts us upon the Strong for strength and the Pure for purity of desire and the great Love of God for love.
We shall have opportunities today to say to the I in us, "In the name of the Lord, go back," as in our inward heart and soul we lead another before. Let us refuse to listen to the I that clamors within us as we set another before ourself. The Lord help us live in honor preferring one another."
