What I've been up to.......

:: Knitting

:: Crocheting

:: Sewing

:: Cross Stitching

:: Writing papers and stories

:: Replying to letters

:: Doing laundry (lots.....Karah seems to be changing her clothes an awful lot lately!)

:: Getting ready to start school next week (explanation below)

:: Helping out in the kitchen

:: Reading for all the reading programs I'm doing

:: I think I'll stop now before this post gets extremely long! ;)

Explanation: The reason we're starting school next week (the first week in July) is because that will give us a whole 6 weeks (maybe a bit less) of school work done by the time Micah is born, then we'll take a two week break, and start back again, doing 6 week periods, then taking a week off. I don't remember exactly when Mama said we'd be done, but I'm pretty sure it will be the end of April, early May. :) So next summer we'll have a longer break.......

The rest of the pictures

Here's the rest of the pictures from the pool, as well as a few others. :)

I finally taught Josiah how to hold his breath under water, so he and Sarah kept having contests to see who could go under the longest. :) I offered to teach Judah, but he looked very scared when I mentioned it, so I think we'll wait a bit longer for him.....
Here's Josiah practicing.....

His "Bugs Bunny" grin. :D

Judah swimming....

A flower (lily) that Sarah found and photographed...recently she's been experimenting more with the camera, which can be good, or bad. lol

A picture from Judah's birthday....I really didn't want to post a picture of the cake, since it looked horrible, but this was the only one I culd decide on posting. :/ Since I know you're having trouble figuring out what the cake is supposed to look like ;), it's supposed to be a car.............

More pictures may be coming up later this week! :)

Fun in the Sun, er, pool! :)

I've finally uploaded the pictures of the other kids when they were in the pool the other day....I couldn't find the camera cable to hook up to the computer, and finally found it right above my head (on a shelf, of course *winks*). *blush* Daddy was organizing the things around the laptop, so of course I've been having a harder time finding things....he is a superb organizer, with the ability to put things just where you would most expect them to be, but where I don't............Anyhow ;) here are some of the pictures....Sarah, Josiah, Judah and Karah were in the pool while I was taking them, Moriah was probably on the computer, and Jeremy was probably on the gamecube. :)

Buddy loves to just lay around outside while we're in the pool.....occasionally he comes over to us to give us kisses, but he won't get in the water for some reason. :)

Sarah found our old bathing suits with those tube things for Karah, so she wore that since she doesn't really have a bathing suit. :) I tried to get her to let me pull her around in the water (holding her under her arms with her laying on her back, like she's gliding) but she's too scared that she'll get water in her face to let me try it yet. :)

Josiah....I'm not sure what he was doing, but with how difficult it is to get pictures of him, where he's actually cooperating I have to take whatever pose I can get! lol Last summer Mama got these swimming suits for the two youngest boys and Karah, which have foam things inside to help them float.....

Judah, swimming obviously. :)

A pretty shot to show you about how big the pool is. :)

Grr....I'm going to have to wait until later to post the rest...unless Moriah wants to do it. :) For some reason the computer isn't letting me load any more....

Karah's Dress

Well, I am done with Karah's dress! Well, I still have to do the lace about the collar, but other than that it is done. :D Here are some pictures of it....I didn't use a pattern, but combined ideas from several patterns I've seen on the internet, so I can't really send you to a specific pattern, but mostly it is after this pattern (the 1914 Afternoon Dress Pattern.....my great grandmother on Mom's side was born in 1914, though that didn't have anything to do with my decision to do her dress after that pattern ;) ), but with more of an empire waist. I probably should have made it a regular waist, because when she tried on the sash, she refused to let me have it sit where it should....(go figure) But, here are the pictures of it....all of it was machine-sewn, except for the sleeves, which I sewed by hand:

Here she is, (none of these pictures have the sash in it.....I'll try to get one with it later on) with her cowgirl hat.....I don't see the connection, but she insisted on taking it with us outside for the pictures. :)
Picking up her hat.....................
Here's a better shot of it.......the skirt comes to her ankles, and the sleeves are to her elbows, even though they were supposed to be shorter...I like them like that though. :)
Here's a back view.....there isn't a zipper, because I got so excited about actually sewing a dress that I forgot to cut the fabric to allow room for a zipper.......but the neckhole is still big enough for her head to fit through. :)
And a good front view......I'm so glad the camera finally captured the actual color of the fabric...it's such a beautiful purple! :D
And sitting prettily on the bench......

Next project (for sewing, at least): Sarah's dress! I have several crocheted and knitted projects to finish or photograph, so pictures should be coming soon. :)

Photo sessions....again!

Karah and I have been doing a lot of picture-taking recently....I think when I uploaded pictures yesterday there were about 200..... :) I was going to do some last night, but I was too tired to get back on to post all of these! Don't worry, there aren't 200 pictures in this post! lol But there are quite a few.....

I worked for 3 long and hot hours at the library on Wednesday, and the entire time I was shelving books and videos. And re-shelving books.......When I first got there, Mrs. Nancy was going through the shelves looking for books that were mis-shelved, so I took over for her, and together I think we found about 30-40 mis-shelved books, and that was only the Juvenile Fiction! I dread the day we decide to do the non-fiction....that section is SUCH a mess! :( Mis-shelved books aside, I really do like working at the library, and I've found so many books that I want to check out. :D The only thing that happened this time that I feel is worth mentioning, is that two little boys (maybe 7 and 8 years old) were playing quietly near some of the books, when they found that the library is being infested with ants! :( I don't mind ants, if they are outside, and leave me alone, but inside, and especially near books (but most especially near baby books!!) I will NOT tolerate them! It was creepy going to shelve the baby board books, and finding ants all over the place...hopefully the library will have someone take care of this problem before Wednesday, because that is when the Summer Reading Program kick-off is, and thousands of people will be coming through all day!

Here are the pictures:
Karah sitting in Josiah's "redneck" (*rolls eyes*) chair. :) She got into the eye shadow before we started taking pictures......
She found a bug on the front porch.....

The dinner bell........Moriah "bought" (Mrs. Judy bought it for her) it to give to Mom. :)
Jeremy found this moth on the side porch......

A self-photo of myself and Karah....
Believe it or not, Karah actually took this picture!! No, I'm not lying: my three year old sister took this picture!!!!! She was begging to be allowed to take pictures, so I let her have the camera, and when I started looking through the pictures she'd taken I found several that were really good! :) My feet aren't really that big though.....lol
Another picture that Karah took. :)
This is my favorite of her "abstract" photos....she has an interesting way of trying to capture a certain angle....its hilarious to watch her! :)
Back behind the camera again! :D

I love her expression!

My personal favorite.........

The tree that we need to take out of the garden.....pretty much everything else is going to go as well, but I'm going to save the bulbs and replant them, so even though the plants will be gone, they'll grow back, and we won't have to buy new ones. :)
Picking Lilies.

And this is the part of the garden that I've already taken care of.......not very much, but I was only using a small spade......Next week I'm going to use the big shovel instead! :)

Yesterday afternoon, I sewed a dress for Karah, out of some material that I bought at Hancocks (they're officially closing tomorrow :( ), and today I'm going to finish the sash and fix the hem......it's a deep purple, and the sash will be a lighter purple....I bought three whole bolts (35.2 yards!!) for only $25! :) I'm planning on making matching dresses for all of us girls, and after Mama has Micah I might make one for her as well, but I also have another dress to make for her, so we'll see. :) I'm going to post pictures of Karah in her dress after its finished on my project blog later this evening.....

Lilies, and baseball

I guess I'm due for another picture post. :) As well as an update.......
Sunday morning, we didn't go to church because when my Mom went into the laundry room to switch the loads around, she found a lake of water on the floor, coming from the water heater! So, from Sunday morning to this afternoon, we had no hot water....you wouldn't believe the stack of dishes that needed to be washed! lol Anyways, Jeremy had his last ball game last week (they lost....again) and Sarah and I discovered a whole bunch of lilies in the ditch between our yard and the neighbor's house! :) They're really pretty, and there are soooo many of them!! Sarah and I both got a few pictures of them.....

Here's a picture of Karah, being silly.....I have several more pictures of her and of the work I've been doing in our garden the past few days, but for some reason the computer won't let me upload them, so they'll have to wait for tomorrow....When I took this picture, Karah and I were watching the birds at our hummingbird feeder, and I kept trying to take a picture of them, but Karah kept scaring them away..
This is of the moon on Thursday....a really quick snapshot I took right after we got home from Jeremy's ball game.....it looked orange, but because it was taken so quickly it's not that great. :(
A fuzzy picture of the sunset the other night....

Buddy...I believe Sarah gets the credit for this one.....and yes, he does take time to stop and smell the flowers! :D lol

Another Buddy pic......Jeremy took this one.....

And finally, the first (and last) pictures of Jeremy's baseball game! He pitched for the first two innings, and did very well....Daddy gets the credit for these pictures. :)

Hopefully I'll have more pictures tomorrow! I've started re-doing our little garden area....I had been just pulling out the weeds and grass, but it turned out to be taking a really long time, because it is SO overgrown with grass and weeds and even two small trees, so Mom and I decided that we're just going to take everything completely out, including the flowers, and just replant new ones next spring.....we were looking through a gardening catalog, and we found several different flowers that we want to plant, and they're very inexspensive, so we may get some for the side garden as well, but I'm not sure yet. :) I've also been working on sewing some spit rags, but I haven't had a chance to in the past two days. I can't think of any other news......
