Karah and Daddy

Hm, now let me see if I can catch up on all that we've done in the past two days! lol On Monday, (Memorial Day), we pretty much just relaxed in the morning, then Daddy worked on the computer in the afternoon, the other kids.....well, I don't know what they did :), and I cut up all the vegetables that Mom had bought, as well as some strawberries, and our first watermelon for this year! :D It was SOOOOOO good!!! The first 8th of the watermelon, only 3 little pieces went into the bowl, because Karah, Judah and I kept eating it as I cut it. :D (We cut it into little squares so it's easier to eat) After I finished cutting everything up (I love cutting veggies and fruits :) ), we had dinner, and I *think* we watched a movie...I can't remember.....OH! Friday night and Sunday afternoon, we kids watched Fiddler on the Roof! :) I saw it when I was getting my books, so I got it, and we finally got to see it. :) Sarah and I were the main ones who watched it.....Jeremy actually was somewhat interested in it, mainly because of the soldiers. (of course) Anyhow, yesterday, we didn't do anything worth mentioning, other than Jeremy had another game last night. (you can pretty much guess whether they won or lost......) This morning, I ended up having to iron my dress because Sarah (I know she meant well, but I just do not like having anyone else do my laundry...) had washed it and a few of my other outfits along with her things, and left it at the bottom of her basket for over a day so it was very wrinkled. *grimaces* I don't mind ironing, in fact it's one of my favorite chores (don't ask why...) but I *don't* like the reason I had to iron. After I got done ironing my dress, and had changed, I did the dishes (which I was supposed to do yesterday, but I forgot that it was Tuesday, so didn't do them then), and while I was doing them, a friend of ours, David Wiley, came over with some food that he and his wife had for us. :) He and Kristina (his wife) just became the youth pastors at a church here in Rocky Mount, so we've been in touch a lot more since we moved up here. (We knew them from the church we went to in Goldsboro) Mom and Dad chatted with him for a little while, then after he left, we had lunch, and Mom took me to the library to work, and while I started shelving, she and Karah looked at some of the books. This time, it was a little tougher doing the shelving, since I did the Jfiction and non-fiction, as well as young adult stuff, DVDs, and cd-Roms (I didn't even know they had those!) I love the books that are in the Juvenile Fiction and non-fiction, but the lady who shelves them (not one of the ladies I work with) does NOT know what she's doing. :( I spent more time re-shelving books that she did, than I did shelving the books on my cart! I found several books that I want to borrow..... :D I knew that would happen! Especially some cooking books that I saw....they have some really good books over there! And when Mom came to pick me up she found a really good series (or what appears to be good) of books that I really want to borrow.....I think I should stick to shelving the Easy Readers. ;) Today, I worked with Mrs. Nancy again (she is very chatty! :) Which is nice.....especially when I was putting the summer reading program bags together), and since Mrs. Ida is away on vacation, Mrs. Linda (not the Mrs. Linda from church) was working today. :) She's very nice.....all four of the ladies are! :) And, Abi you'll like this, when Mrs. Nancy and Mrs. Linda saw my dress, they both commented that it looked very nice, and Mrs. Nancy actually asked me where I'd bought it! lol :D They were very impressed when I told them that my friend had made it, and were very happy to know that young ladies are still interested in sewing, and crafts like it. :) So theres a compliment (er, two lol) for you Abi! :) And your Mom..... :)
Well, here are a few pictures from the past weekend.....the first three are of (who else?! ;)) Karah.....she was begging me to take pictures, so after I fixed her hair in pigtails, we went outside for pictures. :)

And this last one is from Monday evening.....Every day of the week, Daddy has specific days set aside for spending 30 minutes of one-on-one time with us kids, and since he didn't havev a chance to do my time on my day (Sunday), we did it Monday evening, after Karah's turn. :) I really had no idea what I wanted to do (normally we challenge each other to a game of Clue, since we both love it, but I'm getting extremely tired of that...) so, since I was knitting when he said it was my turn, I got mischievious (*evil cackle*) and decided I would teach him how to knit. :D I tried teaching him how to crochet about 2 years ago (don't ask......disastrous is the best way to describe it!! lol In case you're wondering, he has yet to make anything.....) but I hadn't yet taught him how to knit........all we're guaranteed is "now", so I decided, why put off to tomorrow what you can do today? ;) Welll.......the lesson only lasted about 5 minutes, and he learned how to hold the needles and yarn, and didn't quite learn how to cast on. Hehe...his commentary (speaking to himself) as he worked at it, was very funny....I wish I could remember exactly what he said! After trying unsuccessfully to cast on at least an enornmous 3 tries, I finally decided to be kind, and stop the knitting lesson. :) Jokingly, he said, "Maybe I should make you learn computer programming!" And that reminded me that I have been wanting to learn the basics of HTML, so I got a 1 hour lesson (extensive lesson....since it has to do with computers! lol) which was very interesting. I did learn a lot, and plan on going through Daddy's book later on this week, when I have some time. :) But anyways....here's a picture Moriah quickly snapped while I was teaching him to knit. :D

I'll post again tomorrow!

My gift!

My gift for the gift exchange from Abigail arrived this morning!! We were getting ready to leave for the chiropractor, but I quickly tried on the dress that she sewed for me! :D I love it!! If we hadn't been going to the chiropractor, I would've worn it when we went out....I think I'll wear it if Mom lets me go grocery shopping with her! :) Just a few minutes ago, Moriah took a picture of it on me (I'm wearing it right now), so here's a glimpse of Abi's wonderful sewing skills! I am smiling, but slightly....the camera wasn't cooperating, so I was just a bit frustrated with it. lol

I'm wearing a white shirt under it, but the dress and sash came from Abigail. :D Thank you so much Abi!!!! I love it!!! :D

My afternoon at the library

My first afternoon working at the library was lots of fun! :) Mrs. Nancy and Mrs. Ida (the two main children's librarians, who I will be working with) are so funny to listen to them chattering.....they both have a great sense of humor, and they're both Christians. :D But anyways....
When I first got there, Mrs. Nancy showed me how to shelve the elementary books, the easy reader books, and the books-in-a-bag (I already knew how to shelve the Juvenile fiction, non-fiction, and everything else, and those sections were pretty much the same, but I wasn't familiar with them because, frankly, I never really care to borrow a Dr. Seuss or Curious George book ;)) , then I started shelving two carts of elementary and easy reader books. It was pretty warm in the library yesterday, so after I got done shelving the books, Mrs. Nancy told me to take a break, so I got some water, and browsed the DVDs....(they finally got the third movie in the Anne of Green Gables series!!! :D Now they only need to get the second one...lol ) After my break, Mrs. Nancy and I worked on deleting the books from the system that they are getting rid of (Mrs. Nancy did that) and I stamped them all after she did that. I love stamping, so I had lots of fun doing that! lol After we did all the books (there were quite a few) the three of us worked on filling the goody bags for the summer reading program, which starts next month. I think we got at least 3-400 done before Mom got there to pick me up at 4. :) Nothing very significant happened that I can recall (other than Mrs. Ida finding a book among the ones they're getting rid of that had several cuss words in it [boy were we glad it's not in the children's section anymore!]), but I did mentally make notes of which days I am NOT going to go to the library during all the summer reading program specials....especially the day they're going to have a snake!!! lol During June, they're going to have a special program every Wednesday for the reading program, and at one thing they'll have birds, another they'll have snakes, I think there's also going to be a magic show, and one other special program....so in June I'll probably be working on Wednesdays instead of Tuesdays, which is good because I didn't get the dishes done yesterday! :)
Oh! On Monday when Mom, Dad and I went to the library, we looked at the free books they had (they always have a cart of books they are getting rid of that people can just take) and I found two books I wanted, Mom found a book for Moriah (about, what else: horses), and we also found two books for Jeremy about wars, but it turned out they were the romance type, and, being the true guy that he is, he decided they were "boring" and gave them to me. :D They look very interesting.....I don't know when I'll get to read them though! lol Then yesterday, I made Mom let me look again, and I found two more books that interested me. :D Now I really have to reorganize my bookshelf! :)

Intelligent titles are so hard to come up with ;)

Guess what! Last night, Mom, Dad and I went to the library, and dad looked at the books while Mom and I talked to Mrs. Forsythe (the head children's librarian) about me volunteering and all that. She's a very nice, and funny, lady, and seemed pleased when she heard that I'm homeschooled (finally someone is pleased! lol), and I also met (well, I've seen her working in the library ever since we've been here, I just had never actually talked to her) one of the children's librarians, who will be showing me around and will help me learn everything I need to know. And guess when I'm starting: today!!! In about an hour, in fact. :D So I'm going to be gone for a couple hours this afternoon...I'll let you know how it goes! :)
Moriah, you have my permission to post some pictures again. :D Just don't log me out of the blog again......lol
I'll be back later! :)

My most recent finished project.....

Is another birthday present. :) My penpal Sarah has a birthday this coming week, and since she doesn't get on the internet, I'm allowed to post pictures of her presents before she actually gets them. :D This morning I finished this hair kerchief, that I designed myself. :) I'll try to type up the pattern (which is really simple) later and post it this afternoon, along with my finished poem. :D I'm not sure if I really like my poem or not.....I mean, I do, but I don't think it's really good....unless you consider it is my first attempt to write a poem. ;) Anyways, here are the pictures of the kerchief...I also made a smaller version for Karah, but I don't have a picture of her wearing it (literally, they both only took me about 3 hours to make, so they are very easy! The smaller version is a little more complicated, but it's still very easy)....

A view from the front....Mommy gets the credit for the pictures of me wearing it. :)
And a side view...it's made in the Navy Cotton yarn that I used for Abi's present...I love working with that yarn! :D
A view of the main piece......this is the basic idea of the pattern...I couldn't get out camera to get a really good picture of the pattern and the color.....

Held up to the light so you can see the pattern a bit better... :)

Enjoy!

Pictures....

Hello! I haven't posted in a lllllllllllllooooooooooooooooooooonnnnnnggggggg....... well, you get the picture :) This afternoon when we went to the library, Hannah decided to volunteer at the library, so next week she's going to start volunteering in the children's section :)
A picture of Hannah and Karah...... Dancing?
Sarah and Karah.......
Karh................
..................Karah again :)..................
. . . .this is the best picture Hannah got of me :).....
A (somewhat rare, we don't have many pictures of him ) picture Hannah got of Judah :)
A picture of Sarah smelling the Azalea bushes :D A picture Sarah got of Hannah posing behind the gate :D
A Picture of are dog Buddy :D

Well, thats all for now I'll post more pictures tomorrow :)

Another finished project, and some yarn!

Here's a picture of BethNell's birthday present. :) Moriah tried it on for me before I sent it, so I got a picture before she took it off:

It was made with some of the yarn I have pictured down further.....it was so easy to make, and I'm using the basic idea of the pattern to make something else right now. :)

Now, here's some pictures of my "organized" knitting stuff. :) This bag is what I use to hold all my "left overs" from finished projects.... :) And yes, that is an Old Navy bag.....but hey, I'm recycling! :D

This is my tote bag that I use to hold some of my smaller projects that I'm working on......
And this is where I toss all the larger projects, my patterns, knitting needles, scissors....you get the picture. :) It's kind of messy....It always is! ;)

And now for my favorite part! :D This afternoon, Mom, Sarah, Karah and myself went to Hancock's and the library, and while at Hancock's (which, in case you didn't hear it from me, is going out of business, so EVERYTHING is on sale at least 50-80% off!! They'll close sometime in June, so right now, it looks like a ghost town, it's so bare...) I got 15 things of yarn that I need for projects, and also just because it was on sale and I actually had the money...for once! lol I also got some double-pointed needles, finally!! Previously, I've just used my circular (technically, most of my knitting needles are really Mom's, because she's letting me use them since she never does) needles when I needed dp's, but now I finally have *real* double-pointed needles! :D But anyways.....I also bought some pretty dark blue fabric for a maternity dress for my Mom, as kind of a Mother's Day/birthday present.....I'm not going to tell you how much I actually spent on all that, because you'll probably faint, but I did save over $55 on everything. :)
Here's some pictures of the yarn that I got (there's a few of the yarn I got a few weeks ago as well in the container, since I'm storing it there):

The top of my yarn container....on the right is some that I got today: Lion Brand Suede in Eggplant (very pretty purple) and in denim (Mom loves this one!). On the left is some that I got a few weeks ago: the white is some crochet cotton...not sure what I'm going to use it for...and the Lion Cotton that I used for Abi's present. :)
A side view....On the bottom is all my FunFurs, most I got today....the colors are: I have several in Deep Sea, then Cotton Candy, Copacabana (*grins* Sarah chose that one), Rainbow, Indigo, and I think the green and white one is Citrus, but I'm not sure.....Above them is the rest of the Suede yarns....

And on the bottom on this side, is the Microspun yarns that I got, in Fuchsia and Cherry Red....

And that's it! :) Oh!!! Now that I'm thinking of it, I remembered something important that I wanted to tell everyone! Well, you're just going to have to pop on over to my other blog to read about it.....I think I'll try to get Moriah to post about it when she posts later tonight....anyways, have fun!

A finished knitting project

Since Abi got her gift already, I'm going to post the pictures of the finished product. :) I knitted her a tank top, and before I sent it I tried it on (and it's a good thing too! I had to fix the neckhole...) and Moriah took some pictures of it.

This is an up close view of it, so you can kind of see the pattern. It was knit in ribbing, two separate pieces, then I sewed the front and back together at the sides and shoulders. The yarn I used was the Lion Cotton, and I don't know what # the color was, but it's navy blue. :)

I'll post the pictures of BethNell's birthday present later...I'm pretty sure she got it, but I want to make sure first. ;) Sorry I haven't posted in awhile....I'll hopefully have a poem to post later tomorrow or Monday, but I'm still working on it. :)

Karah...

This morning I took Karah outside, and she posed for a *few* pictures. :) Enjoy!

I couldn't decide which of these I liked best, so I included the three that turned out the best.

Which one do you like best? I want to get some printed of each of us kids individually.....

Here are......

Some pictures. :D Most of them were taken using the "surprise" technique, so they're pretty interesting. :D And most of the people in them are probably going to kill me for posting them! lol Anhow, here they are:

I caught Daddy when he came inside (I don't recall what he was doing beforehand..)

Moriah was kindly vacuuming mine and Karah's room, so I got her as well. :)
Sarah being really weird.....she was doing some sort of dance around her room and stopped in front of me for a picture:

Sarah with Karah......I don't know what the joke was. :)

Another of Sarah.........................................................

A reeeaaaaalllllllllyyyyyy weird one of Sarah.......
And yet another one of Sarah..............................
And another.....I think this is the last one though......

Yep, and apparently Mom is shocked! LOL I didn't realize what her facial expression was until just now! Hehe.....
And Jeremy......watching something on tv...I don't remember what...thats Josiah's head in the bottom right corner.

And Karah. :) She's FINALLY wearing the skirt I knitted for her way back this past summer.....though it probably won't fit her much longer.. lol

And that's all the pictures I was able to get. :) It's been drizzly and overcast all day....perfect for hot tea and knitting! :) I did do some school today, but not much, since I was knitting a lot, plus I had dishes I had to do (I forgot that yesterday was Tuesday, so I didn't do them then) and Sarah and I made dinner together. :)

I've pretty much quit going to 180 (our church's youth thing) so Wednesday nights are free for me! :D I'll probably answer some letters, and knit again this evening. :)
